RTX 3060 Ti vs Radeon RX 6700 XT – The Battle of Red and Green

There is an ever-so-growing demand of GPUs that do not cost a lot of money but still manage to deliver solid performance through and through and to be honest, that is exactly how it should be. Not everyone wants to buy the RX 6900 XTs or the RTX 3090 Tis. Sometimes, you are just looking at a budget offering that manages to deliver solid performance across the board and the same is the case this time around.

Today, we are comparing two of the most popular GPUs in the market; the RTX 3060 Ti and the Radeon RX 6700 XT. These GPUs have been around for some time now, so it is best that we are talking about how they both fair with each other.

Now, of course, considering how they are from two different companies, we are going to see different technologies being used but at the end of the day, it does not matter because people are here to look at performance numbers and that is what we plan on providing.

RTX 3060 Ti vs Radeon RX 6700 XT – Specs Comparison

First things first, we are going to start looking at the specs. Now, as mentioned before, both of these GPUs are a lot more different from each other, and therefore, there is bound to be difference in terms of specs, but don’t worry, we are going to tell you what you are getting for your money.

Now, the specs that we have mentioned here are for the reference variants. Which means that you are more than likely to get something that is slightly different in terms of the specs. However, if you want, you can also choose to buy reference variants as they are also available in the market.

Since the specs are out of the way, we can now go ahead and look at the performance numbers and see what the difference is all about.

RTX 3060 Ti vs Radeon RX 6700 XT – Performance

Performance, of course, is going to be the biggest deciding factor for anyone who is in the market for a new GPU. However, it is not as simple as it might sound. You see, when you are comparing the performance of two GPUs from the same company, things are a lot simpler and straightforward. Why? Well, they use the same technologies and feature-set, so you know that you are not getting the chance of ruining anything.

However, the RTX 3060 Ti and the Radeon RX 6700 XT are both from different companies with different architectures and technologies. Therefore, the comparison has to be a bit stricter. Now, it is worth noting that all the games ran at 1440p and for the sake of a proper comparison, we did not turn on any extra settings such as DLSS, FSR, or Raytracing.

  • Control: RTX 3060 Ti averages at 71 frames per second and RX 6700 XT at 69 frames per second.
  • Cyberpunk 2077: RTX 3060 Ti averages at 55 frames per second and RX 6700 XT at 53 frames per second.
  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: RTX 3060 Ti averages at 63 frames per second and RX 6700 XT at 72 frames per second.
  • Red Dead Redemption 2: RTX 3060 Ti averages at 64 frames per second and RX 6700 XT at 67 frames per second.
  • Battlefield V: RTX 3060 Ti averages at 110 frames per second and RX 6700 XT at 117 frames per second.

Now, looking at the scores alone, one can easily tell that the RTX 3060 Ti is slower than the RX 6700 XT, however, a closer inspection tells us that the difference is not a massive one, to begin with. This means that if you are looking to get your hands on something good, then that definitely is a good way to get started.

RTX 3060 Ti vs Radeon RX 6700 XT – Extra Features

One more thing that we are going to mention is the set of features that you are going to get when you are getting your hands on either of the GPU. Now, previously, we have been comparing GPUs from the same company and the same family, for that matter. Things have changed a bit here as we are looking at GPUs from two companies with very different aspects.

So, what exactly are the differences. Well, you are getting DLSS with Nvidia, and FSR with AMD. These are the two key differences. Both GPUs do support hardware accelerated raytracing, however, in terms of performance, Nvidia GPUs handle raytracing in a much better and solid way, all thanks to the company having more experience in this regard.

RTX 3060 Ti vs Radeon RX 6700 XT – Which One Should You Pick Up

We are almost done with the comparison and it is safe to say that a lot of times, people are comparing these GPUs with each other but you would be surprised to know that the answer is a lot simpler. You see, on the surface, the RX 6700 XT is definitely the faster one. However, what you don’t know is that whenever you are looking at the RTX 3060 Ti or any other RTX GPU, for that matter is that you are also looking at DLSS and Raytracing. Sure, AMD has FSR and Raytracing as well, but the implementation is not nearly as good as Nvidia, and therefore, Nvidia definitely wins here.

Conclusion

The conclusion here is as simple as it can possibly get. If you are looking to get your hands on the right GPU, I would highly, highly advise that you are picking up the RTX 3060 Ti. Simply because at its core, you might not be getting the performance you are looking for but when you go ahead and start using DLSS, you will be getting much, much better performance.

Therefore, if you are looking to be sure that you are buying the best GPU there is in the market and at the given price point, then picking up the RTX 3060 Ti is a much smarter choice all thanks to the features that you are getting.
